Anime Defenders Unit Tier List – Update 4 Part 2

In this tier list, I’ve only included the meta sub-mythic units, as almost all legendaries, epics, and rares in Anime Defenders are not viable except for story; their stats/utility compared to those of mythics are just subpar. If you still need a ranking for sub-mythics, I included a separate tier list further down, including explanations for each unit.

Also, note that I’ve used non-evo names for each unit so the newer players can more easily discern which units they should roll/trade for. Still, the performance of each tower was rated based on its fully upgraded evolution.

S+ Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Shadow Dragon — Shadow Dragon is the rarest exclusive and one of the strongest units in Anime Defenders right now. He is full AoE, multi-hit, hybrid, and provides a 25% range and 15% cooldown buffs to other units with his active. He is simply broken.
  • Dragon Wizard — Dragon Wizard not only has one of the best DPSs in AD as a full AoE unit but can buff other burn allies, too. He is just too strong right now, and getting him should be your priority.
  • Demon King — When evolved and fully upgraded, Demon King is arguably the best support in the game. His slow lasts for 5 seconds, and his SPA is low enough that he can apply it almost permanently in an ultra-wide AoE radius. His DPS isn’t half-bad, either.
  • The Rift Sorcerer — Gojo is OP, just like Demon King. He is full AoE when maxed out with insane DPS and slow. Plus, he is a hybrid, which removes the need for a designated hill unit.
  • The Cursed Knight — Igris is now unobtainable but is still sought after as one of the strongest secrets in the game. He applies vulnerability to enemies, is hybrid, has great DPS, and has full AoE.
  • The Gamer — SJW summons enemies he killed with 1/4 HP and has really cheap upgrades, making him capable of solo carrying you through most game content.
  • The Demon Lord — The Demon Lord is one of the easiest secrets to get and the best bleed unit in the game, with a massive full AoE attack. Plus, he can buff other bleed units like Bear King and Curse Prince.
  • Lunar Huntress — Lunar Empress (Lunar Huntress evo) doesn’t have a burn, but she ramps up much quicker than Solar Slayer. Plus, her overall DPS and the range/size of her line AoE are all massive.

S Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Legion Assassin — Legion Assassin is a hybrid unit with solid AoE and DPS. Plus, he is a support that buffs other units’ crit chance by 30%, which is insane.
  • Legion Commander — Legion Commander is the second-best exclusive right now. She is a hill unit with solid damage and range. Plus, she can summon extra units, increasing her DPS further.
  • Aether Knight — Aether Knight’s passive gives him 2%+ damage for each unit in its massive full AoE range, making him very strong right now. Plus, he is a hybrid and costs only ¥500 to place. Use him together with SJW to max out his passive quickly.
  • Darkness Prince — Darkness Prince has a massive full AoE attack when fully upgraded. However, his overall DPS is relatively low compared to other top-tier secrets, and he doesn’t offer any other utility.
  • Solar Slayer — Solar Slayer takes time to ramp up, but once he does, he is arguably the best burn unit in Anime Defenders. He performs best on endless.
  • Cursed Berserker Knight — CBK can easily achieve a 100% crit rate with Legion Assassin Master’s ability, making him one of the strongest DPSs in the game. However, he can’t target flying enemies.
  • Bear King — Bear King is a hybrid, bleed, full AoE unit that is still among the best mythics in Anime Defenders. Use him together with The Demon Lord to make the most out of him.
  • Flame Dragon King — FDK is one of the best mythics in Anime Defenders at the moment. His DPS, which can now be buffed by the Dragon Wizard, is amazing, and his AoE is huge. Plus, he is a hybrid.
  • Pink Rockstar — Bocchi is the meta money-farming unit, and she also buffs other units within her range by 20%. She is rarely on the banner for some reason, though.

A Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Legion Veteran — Legion Veteran is a support that can buff other units’ range and deal solid damage in a wide AoE. However, he’s not as good as secrets or other exclusive units regarding DPS.
  • Chance Taker — Hakari is a unit with amazing range and huge AoE. However, he can only target the ground, which makes him a low-priority secret.
  • Water Swordmaster — Even though he can only target ground, Giyu is fairly strong. He has a massive AoE attack, low cooldown, and possibly the highest raw DPS of all mythics in the game.
  • Fire Demon Ninja — Fire Demon Ninja is one of the meta burn mythics right now. His DPS is crazy, and he has a large AoE attack. Plus, he can target flying enemies, too. Use him in combination with other burn units and Dragon Wizard.
  • Sharpshooter — Sharpshooter is really good when evo. It has an amazing range, a big AoE, and is multi-hit. It’s really a meta hill unit for story, tower, and raids.
  • Ice Dragon — Ice Dragon is a multi-hit big AoE support unit with superb DPS. Plus, she can slow the enemies, almost freezing them in place. She is literally busted right now.
  • Curse Prince — Sukuna applies bleed to enemies and hinders their regeneration. He is absolutely meta right now, especially if you have The Demon Lord, too.
  • Bloomer — Bloomer is a farm unit, just like Pink Rockstar, but much easier to get. She is a top-tier support in Anime Defenders that you should use in combination with Bocchi.

B Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Slime Spirit — Overall, Slime Spirit might be among the weakest secrets in Anime Defenders. The only thing inflating its price is the fact that it’s so rare.
  • Warrior Princess — Warrior Princess is a full AoE map-wipe unit. I wouldn’t consider her absolute meta because, besides damage, she doesn’t offer much. Still, she is good as a replacement for Elf/Carp.
  • Elf Wizardess — Frieren is a full AoE unit when evolved, and her DPS is amazing, similar to Garp. She isn’t a hybrid, though.
  • Jadefire Knight — Jadefire Knight is a solid mythic support that can increase the damage enemy units take. Plus, he is a hybrid and deals solid damage.
  • Donut Warrior — Donut Warrior is one of the meta mythic supports. He slows enemies and has excellent AoE and range; all are a must if you want to go high on endless.
  • Strike Commander — Garp is still one of the best ground units with an amazing amount of DPS and a huge AoE once fully evolved. He is very similar to Frieren, though he is multi-hit.
  • Pink Demon Witch — Pink Witch is basically an alternative version of Pink Rockstar. She slows enemies in a wide range, can deal damage, and farms gold. However, the gold farm is kind of lacking compared to Pink Rockstar.

C Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Princess Swordmaster — Even when evolved, Princess Swordmaster is still fairly underwhelming. Her low DPS, lack of utility, and lack of full AoE are crippling. Her only good point is the low placement cost, which is useful for early waves.
  • Skull Warrior — Skull Warrior is one of the best starter mythical units, and you should try to get it as early as possible. He has full AoE on placement and a huge range. However, other mythics outperform it on endless.
  • Muscular Sorcerer — Muscular Sorcerer is good both evo and unevo. He is full AoE and has massive damage. However, Carp and Elf are stronger if you can afford them.
  • Ant King — Ant King is a solid mythical that is good for DMG grinds. He has a massive AoE, second to very few other units.
  • Thunder Shinobi — Thunder Shinobi is better than Esper but still fairly mid. He has a multi-hit ability that is good against shielded enemies. However, I don’t recommend pulling for him unless you want him for his cool looks.
  • Chief of Ice — Chief of Ice is a good support starter. Full AoE and applies slows to enemies, which is super important if you want to go for high scores. Consider him an upgraded version of Grey.

D Tier Anime Defenders Units

  • Esper — Esper is arguably the worst mythic on this whole tier list, but he is still better than most epics. I wouldn’t advise rolling/trading for him unless you are a completionist.
  • Beast Sorcerer — Beast Sorcerer has a wide-range line AoE attack that deals solid damage when fully upgraded. However, its total DPS is really low, making it one of the worst mythics in the game.
  • Cursed Fighter — Cursed Fighter is a meta support that applies vulnerability to enemies, increasing the DMG they take by 15%. His AoE is also very good.
  • Clay — Gray is basically the Chief of Ice you bought on Wish. His slows are good and necessary on literally every stage, so use him until you get a better slow unit.
  • Frost Reaper — Frost Reaper is an alternative to Gray. Both are slow, and their range/AoE is also similar. Use them until you get a better, slower unit.

Anime Defenders Sub-Mythic Unit Tier List – Update 4 Part 2

Note that all the S-tier sub-mythics except for The Beast are also listed in the meta Anime Defenders tier list that’s at the beginning of the post. That’s because their utility provides value throughout the game. The Beast, on the other hand, is just great for the early game and super-easy to obtain.

S Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Cursed Fighter — Cursed Fighter is a meta support that applies vulnerability to enemies, increasing the DMG they take by 15%. His AoE is also very good.
  • Chief of Ice — Chief of Ice is not only an OP support for the early game but is also useful for the late game. He is full AoE when upgraded, deals solid damage, and, most importantly, slows enemies.
  • Pink Rockstar — Bocchi is the meta money-farming unit, and she can also buff other units within her range by 20% with her ability. Together with Bloomer, it is a priority you obtain her as early as possible.
  • Bloomer — Bloomer is one of the meta farm units, and she is easy to get. It is a priority you get her as early as possible.
  • The Beast — The Beast is arguably the best epic for beginners, with a full AoE and really good DPS when max upgraded. However, he falls off later, while all other S-tier sub-mythics don’t.

A Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Strongest Swordsman — Strongest Swordsman is excellent in the early game because of his multi-attack line AoE. However, he isn’t useful later on.
  • Master Swordsman — Master Swordsman is one of the best starter legendaries due to his low SPA and full AoE.
  • Electric Cyborg — Electric Cyborg is a good starter with turrets. However, he is unobtainable as of June 2024.
  • Purple Demon Berserker — Purple Demon Berserker is a solid AoE DPS legendary you can use as a starter.
  • Storm Slayer — Storm Slayer is a new legendary with a line AoE Attack. Her damage is solid, and her SPA is low. Use her for the early game.
  • Chief of Lava — Chief of Lava is a solid starter legendary that can apply burn until you get Natsu. He is also a hill unit, which might come in handy.
  • Dragon Slayer — Dragon Slayer is one of the best epics in terms of DPS. Plus, he is Full AoE, can apply burn, and is a hybrid.
  • Inferno Commander — Inferno Commander has a full circle AoE attack when fully upgraded and burn in his kit. He is pretty solid until you get Chief of Lava or Natsu.

B Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Chief of Light — Chief of Light is an okay starter. He has a large circle attack when upgraded and solid DPS.
  • Cursed Archer — Cursed Archer is one of the more recent hill units. It can bleed enemies, preventing them from regenerating shields, but otherwise, it doesn’t offer much.
  • Shinobi Form 3 — Shinobi Form 3 is decent as a starter DPS, but considering that he is legendary, he is pretty underwhelming.
  • Maxed Qi Master — Maxed Qi Master is okay as a starter, but nothing too special. He is a bad investment now that there are other, better legendaries.
  • Blood Demon — Blood Demon can inflict bleed, making her a solid unit against shields. However, all of her other stats aren’t good.
  • Fire Leg Master — Fire Leg Master is kind of okay in the early game because of his burn and wide-line AoE.
  • Spirit Hybrid — DPS-wise, Spirit Hybris is outperformed by basically all other epics. Still, the bleed can come in handy early on.
  • Ocean Guardian — Ocean Guardian is a multi-hit epic unit with okayish DPS. However, he is unobtainable as of June 2024.

C Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Zen Swordsman — Zen Swordsman is also part of the Lucky Ticket banner. His DPS is fairly low for an epic.
  • Vengeful Shinobi — This guy is possibly the worst epic in Anime Defender. Still, he is better than almost any rare DPS unit.
  • Ascended Qi Master — Ascended Qi Master has a lot of upgrades, and that’s it.
  • Soulforce Reaper — Soulforce Reaper is a mediocre epic with AoE. He is good as a stat stick.
  • Clown Pirate — He is full AoE when upgraded fully, which makes him a solid pick for the very early game.
  • Pirate Hunter — Pirate Hunter is one of the few good rare towers concerning DPS. Use him until you get an epic.
  • Soul Reaper — Soul Reaper has commendable DPS for a rare. Use him for the early story stages.
  • Savage — Savage is part of the Lucky Ticket banner. He is one of the strongest rare units regarding DPS, making him worth using early on.

D Tier Sub-Mythic Anime Defenders Units

  • Cursed Nail — Cursed Nail is a hybrid, but by the time you start needing that, you’ll have much better options. Avoid using this unit.
  • Fire Swordsman — Fire Swordsman can apply burn. Therefore, he is worth using in the early game. However, he seems to be unobtainable right now.
  • Emp Fighter — Useless unit.
  • Pink Shinobi — Pink Shinobi’s DPS is commendable for a rare unit. Still, she isn’t worth using over any epic.
  • Qi Master — His AoE is big, but the DPS is too low. Don’t use this guy.
  • Salamander — His DPS is mediocre, and his burn ticks only once. He is just not worth using.
  • Pirate Man — Line AoE and low DPS make Pirate Man atrocious.
  • Shinobi — Basically a male version of Pink Shinobi. You can use him as a DPS until you get something better.

Which Banners To Summon on in Anime Defenders

Before you roll on a banner in Anime Defenders, always check how many high-strength units from the tier list are on it. I recommend you spend your rolls on banners with at least two B+ units on them. Still, if you’re only missing one specific mythic, by all means, roll when it’s available.

The biggest pitfall is rolling when a good epic or legendary is on the banner. These shouldn’t be your focus! Instead, you want to look for specific mythics, such as A and S-tier ones. Legendaries and epics you will get passively, as their pull chance is 8/61 times higher than for mythics.

The tier list and the supplementary info should help you make a decision on which units you should spend your hard-earned gems in Anime Defenders.
