With each generation of video game consoles, games continue to get bigger and better. Worlds are teeming with detail and continue to stretch beyond the horizon. Character models are intricately detailed, and the sheer amount of quests and content for players to work their way through has crept up into the hundreds of hours to complete. So here, we’re looking at the 20 biggest games of all time, ranked by their install size.

A quick note here: to save this from being a very repetitive list of Call of Duty titles, we’ve bundled most of those together. Moving Out 2 on Xbox Series X

Moving Out 2 is the kind of game that I really should enjoy. I loved engaging in the culinary chaos of Overcooked and its sequel with my partner, as annoyed bickering turned into strategic streamlining of our coordinated cooking. At times, Moving Out 2 managed to scratch that itch, but in other levels, we just found it leaned towards being more frustrating than fun.

It’s a fine line that these kinds of games have to walk. The whole appeal of them comes from the clever level designs that push you towards a more chaotic multiplayer affair that’s best experienced with friends and loved ones on the couch next to you. But there’s something about Moving Out’s focus on furniture moving that just didn’t quite jive with me in the same regular cadence that Team 17’s other title did.

9. Far Cry

Credit to the first game in the Far Cry series for kicking things off, but after what came before it, it may not entirely stand the test of time. Considering when it was released, the original Far Cry looks pretty great and it sold the jungle environment very well. The enemy AI is mostly intelligent, and the weapons have a good balance between them.

During the leaks as Fortnite’s 25.11 update is rolled out across all platforms, it’s been revealed that Bethesda Gamer Studios’ Elder Scrolls series may be the next gaming collaboration to come to the ever-popular Battle Royale title.

The news comes via the popular Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey. In the usual stream of tweets sharing the various leaks from the new game files, the leaker revealed an encrypted ‘Folk Evening’ cosmetics set. You can see them in the embedded tweet below.

During the downtime for the Fortnite 25.11 update today, leaks have started surfacing from the usual suspects and one in particular has grabbed the attention of fans. The Pump Shotgun is returning to Fortnite, but before you get too excited, it’s received a fairly hefty nerf.

As shared by popular leaker HYPEX, the Pump Shotgun will be unvaulted and return to Fortnite’s weapons pool as part of a future update, but its headshot damage and general effectiveness in battle have been shaken up a little bit.

Let’s address the elephant in the room here. Up until this weekend, I’d never played a Mortal Kombat game. Yes, yes, cue the gasps and pitchforks in the comments section. I’ve always sat back, appreciating friends unleashing brutal fatalities on one another and frantically mashing out combos on controllers, but for my own fighting fix, I’ve gravitated towards the Tekken series. Having got an invite into Mortal Kombat 1’s stress test this weekend, though, I decided to finally see what all the fuss was about.

And reader, my ass got handed to me fight after fight after fight. Having realized that immediately hopping online might not be the wisest decision as a complete newcomer, I opted to try out the single-player ‘Tower’ mode to find my footing. I did what everyone initially does when checking out a new fighting game — I pored over the extensive move lists teeming with combos, tried to remember a few, and then proceeded to button mash through my first fight. It did not end well.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, it was announced that Luigi’s Mansion 2 that originally released on the Nintendo 3DS back in 2013 will be getting a remake for the Nintendo Switch.

Barely any other details were shared during the Direct on the remake, outside of the fact that it’s getting a fresh lick of paint to bring the visuals up to 2023’s standards. We only got about 10-15 seconds of footage, too, so it’s difficult to say whether the gameplay will remain the exact same as that in the original.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life on PS5

Within minutes of booting up Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, I was hit by a wave of nostalgia. The guitar-twanging soundtrack kicked in and transported me back to playing the original, Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, on the GameCube over a decade ago now. It was a heart-warming experience, encountering the cast of weird and wonderful characters all over again, but soon enough the cracks in this remake/ remaster started to show.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life aims to freshen up the 2003 original, but the premise remains the same. You’ve inherited a rundown farm from your father and travel to the sleepy town of Forgotten Valley to give revitalizing it your best shot. In terms of changes over the original, this ‘Story of Seasons’ version adds pronouns and customization options to the character creator, gives you different outfits to purchase and wear, adds more crops to those originally on offer, adds more romance options including same gender, and enhances the various events that take place throughout each year. That all sounds quite a lot, but before my first year in the game had come to a close, I soon realized that, actually, Forgotten Valley is very much stuck in the past of the farming sim genre.

Ubisoft developer Ivory Tower today’ gave fans a glimpse of the latest entry into the open-world racing series. During the Ubisoft Forward livestream, The Crew Motorfest got its time in the spotlight, with a new trailer and a gameplay showcase.

Kicking things off, Ubisoft showed a very flashy trailer of street racing at night-time, drag racing down a street and straight into a jungle (as you do), and then into a downhill race between a truck and a moped. We’re back onto roads for some stormy coastal road driving, and then back onto the track in a Red Bull F1 car. All of that is to say that yes, The Crew Motorfest will have a variety of terrains to explore and vehicles to traverse it in.

Epic Games has shared the trailer for the new season of Fortnite kicking off today. Chapter 4 Season 3, also known as the ‘WILDS’ update will see players exploring ancient ruins exposed beneath the surface from all those earthquakes that have been going on in-game. There’s also raptors, vines, and Optimus Prime. Can you tell we’re pleased with how well that flows? I can!

The trailer, which you can check out below, gives us a glimpse of some very jungle-looking areas. In it, we get to see the refined selection of weapons that we’ll have access to this season, alongside large vines that can be grinded on for quick and easy access around parts of the map. Players will be able to ascent to the canopies of the hidden jungle, ride raptors to quickly cover ground, and slide in mud for added speed and camouflage.

That’s right, it’s what was once E3 season, which Geoff has now taken over in the form of Summer Game Fest! Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

Unexpectedly kicking off the show was a new reveal for Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. The game’s sticking to the series side-scrolling gameplay for the most part, but has been revamped with some slick-looking new visuals. The combat looks to be as fast-paced and frenetic as fans have come to expect from the series.

Microsoft has announced the Xbox Games Showcase will take place next month on Sunday, June 11th at 10am PT/ 1pm ET/ 6pm BST, with the Starfield Direct livestream set to take place immediately afterwards.

In a post on the Xbox Wire blog, Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox Games Showcase will give players “some new surprises and first-looks” from the publisher’s first-party studios, as well as its creative partners around the world. The livestream’s aim will be to give fans an idea of what’s coming to Xbox, PC and the Game Pass subscription service in the near future.
